The Uganda Immigration Landscape

Uganda's e-visa system is mandatory and the details matter

Since 2016, Uganda has operated a fully digital visa system through the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC). All visas must be applied for in advance at visas.immigration.go.ug. There is no visa on arrival for most nationalities.

Work permits are managed separately by the Work Permits Committee and involve Ministry of Internal Affairs approval. Class G (expatriate employee) permits cost USD 2,500 per year and require a company already registered in Uganda. We sequence your company registration and work permit application to avoid operational gaps.

Our Process

How we manage your immigration

01

Visa & Permit Strategy

Free consultation to map the correct visa class, permit type and sequencing. For investor-directors we often recommend a Class M permit over a Class G to allow broader business activity and future-proof the arrangement.

02

Document Preparation

We provide precise document checklists for each permit class: passport copies, educational certificates, employment contracts, medical report, Yellow Fever certificate, two passport photographs (white background). Foreign documents require notarisation.

03

Application Filing

We lodge applications through the DCIC's work permit committee and manage all follow-up. For e-visas, we complete the online application, upload all documents and receive the electronic visa on your behalf.

04

Airport Arrival Coordination

For VIP arrivals, our representative meets you airside at Entebbe. We coordinate with ground handling agents for baggage, customs declarations and VVIP lounge access where applicable.

05

Ongoing Status Monitoring

We maintain a live tracker of all permit expiry dates for your team. Renewals are initiated 90 days before lapse. We also monitor policy changes from DCIC that affect your status and advise proactively.
